Our story began in 1967 when Lilah Vanger along with her sister, Beetie Lee, opened the first designer womenswear boutique in St Johns Wood.

In 1982 Sharon & Gary Vanger, her children, entered the business and decided it was time for a rebrand. Somebody mentioned an already suggested new name to which Gary said “I can’t believe it, we’ve gone back to square one”, and the thus the brand we know today was born.

In 1991, after Sharon Vanger passed away, Beverley Vanger joined the business and once again Square One was modernised and became the Square One as you know today.
In 1999, Square One expanded into Menswear. Today the business is run by the 3rd Generation with James and Sasha Vanger at the helm.
